Earth Day started way back in 1970 when the academics and the hippies in the U.S. got together and decided they had to speak up about the harmful human activities threatening our planet. It sparked a movement that has since made waves around the world inspiring governments to create environmental protection policies. These have created societal changes in over 190 countries. You can add your voice by taking part in this year’s 50th anniversary celebration events. All of you, budding citizen scientists, can help with ‘Earth Challenge 2020’. Head over to EarthDay.org and see how you can get involved to promote hope, optimism and positive action.
